Donate Before the End of 2023 to Double Your Impact
Our board of directors will match every dollar up to $25,000 that you contribute to Washington Wildlife First between December 19 and 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2023.
Washington Wildlife First is ending the year with a bang! On December 15, 2023, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission voted 7 to 2 to approve our rulemaking petition to end the overexploitation of the state’s cougars and bears.
This unprecedented vote is a huge step forward in elevating conservation over consumption and science over special interests. But the real work is just beginning. This month’s vote opens the rulemaking process; next year we will need to work hard to ensure that the resulting rule will provide sufficient protections for our state’s cougars and bears.
At the same time, we will be pursuing approval of our wolf protection rulemaking petition, continuing our litigation to force the Department to consider how its hatchery program is harming wild fish and orca populations, and continuing our campaign to bring about comprehensive reforms to state wildlife management.
This is just the start of what we hope to achieve in 2024. But with every victory for Washington’s wildlife comes more opposition. As we have established Washington as a leader in state wildlife agency reform, we have also put the state on the radar screen of well-funded national groups such as the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance, which are dedicating more and more resources to maintaining the status quo.
We have shown what we can achieve with hard work, persistence, and tenacity. But if we are going to continue our track record of success, we need your help to expand our efforts.
The dedicated members of our board of directors are so committed to our work that they are willing to match up to $25,000 of the donations we receive between December 19 and December 31.
Please donate today and help us make 2024 a turning point for Washington’s fish and wildlife!
